The fiscal year 22/23 is over and we are proud to announce that it was again a successful year for sheetfed label printing and also sales for CutStar and FoilStar were outstanding. Thanks for your efforts and support to achieve these great results.

The next Label Day 2023 is coming up – on June 20^th 2023 we will open the doors of the Print Media Center in Wiesloch once again to welcome many interested customers from all over the world to show them the latest product up-dates on HEIDELBERG Sheetfed Label products.

In April Multi-Color Corporation (MCC) – USA, one of the largest label companies in the world, announced the acquisition of Korsini – Turkey, a leading provider of in-mold label solutions. This acquisition expands MCC’s in-mold labeling network and creates new foothold to complement its position in Europe, Middle East, African and Asian markets. Enrico Corsini continues running the business under the MCC Korsini brand.

Label Day 2023 in Wiesloch on June 20^th

We are looking forward to the next Label Day in June 2023, showing our competences and leading know-how in sheetfed label printing to international customers. We will demonstrate the joint leading role of HEIDELBERG and Gallus. Customers can convince themselves of the broadest product portfolio for label production – from Prepress – Press – Postpress for newcomers/beginners to industrial high performance printing companies. They will experience how toproduce labels sustainably, innovatively, individually and economically.

High Security Printing Conference 2023 in Abu Dhabi, UAE

In the market for high-security printing, where people are reluctant to communicate too openly with the outside world, it is nevertheless important to have a platform where people can exchange views despite the very sensitive issues involved. One opportunity for this was provided by the conference and trade show recently held in Abu Dhabi, UAE, the “High Security Printing Conference 2023“, in which HEIDELBERG also participated.

During the event one of our customers from Eastern Europe was awarded for the design of a new ID card, this customer had strengthened his production last year with two Speedmaster XL 75 for security printing.

The event, established for over 22 years, played host to a program exploring all aspects of the design, production, personalization and authentication of secure documents.

The event attracted an international audience of some 250 leading specialists to discuss winning strategies, successful examples and innovative new technologies, with a special emphasis on Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

– Currency features and substrates
– Sustainability and resilience
– Avel documentation technologies
– Anti-counterfeiting, document verification and enforcement
– New developments in ID cards and breeder documents
– Licenses and vehicle registration

Delivery times FoilStar & CutStar

The actual delivery time for FoilStar is variable due to problems with parts supply at sub suppliers and is 10 months at the moment. Therefore the delivery times in SAP quotation and order system was set to “on request”.

With CutStar we are back to normal delivery times of 6-8 months.

HEIDELBERG CutStar Generation 4 offers cost benefits and added productivity for printing labels and package inserts

The CutStar sheeter from Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (HEIDELBERG) is in high demand from print shops. After all, operators are leveraging cost benefits and boosting productivitythanks to the new CutStar Generation 4. The sheeter is now available on the market in its fourth generation. Compared to the previous generation, this latest version offers the advantage of the Push-to-Stop concept from HEIDELBERG, meaning it offers more automation, simpler handling, and easier maintenance. By taking automation to the next level, CutStar Generation 4 can save up to 50 percent on makeready times when integrated into the Prinect workflow. …

… Having launched the system in summer 2020, HEIDELBERG recently sold the 50th CutStar Generation 4 to Seaway Printing Company, a commercial print shop based in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Seaway Printing supplies (publishing) customers across the whole of the USA with books, brochures, catalogs, magazines, and educational materials: “Here at Seaway Printing, everything revolves around quality, reliability, and speed,” says Kevin Heslin, President at Seaway Printing. “Having understood our requirements perfectly and worked on appropriate automation solutions, HEIDELBERG has become an important partner that helps us fulfill those promises. Diamond Packaging installs fourth Speedmaster XL 106 featuring HEIDELBERG’s 20,000th XL Printing Unit and first FoilStar Cast&Cure with indexing function

… Recently, Diamond Packaging, a full-service packaging supplier and manufacturer of paperboard folding cartons, counter-top displays, and blister cards specializing in the cosmetic, personal care, and health care industries, installed a new Speedmaster XL 106 from HEIDELBERG. Equipped with UV, Prinect Inpress Control 3, and FoilStar, the press is specially designed to meet the demands of today’s Consumer Packaged Goods companies: high-end decorative effects produced more quickly, economically, and sustainably. Diamond’s newest XL 106-10-LYYL includes the 20,000th XL 105/106 printing unit to be installed since the press model was introduced – a testament to the quality and success of HEIDELBERG’s XL line. …

… Seeking additional measures to reduce its material and energy expenditures, Diamond chose to install its newest press with FoilStar inline cold transfer application. FoilStar helps the company meet its customers’ desires for high-end effects to reinforce the premium positioning of their brands while eliminating some of its offline foiling processes. “Our customers are very interested in our environmental practices and new material options,” said Rydell. “Inline techniques are cost effective and more sustainable, especially when considering the material and energy costs associated with multiple runs or off-line production processes.” Thanks to its indexing function, the new FoilStar unit optimally applies metallic decoration regardless of coverage, which helps to provide savings for printed sheets with minimal foiling. Diamond’s FoilStar unit has the additional capability of applying Cast and Cure holographic effects inline and is thefirst FoilStar installed in the world with this combined functionality. It is also Diamond’s first press to feature HEIDELBERG’s inline cold transfer unit, but it will begin retrofitting an existing 2016 XL 106 with FoilStar later this month.

Sharjah’s Labelco Installs UAE’s 1st Heidelberg CX 104

Sharjah-based Labelco International FZE, a leading supplier in the label market, has installed the first Heidelberg Speedmaster CX 104-6+L UV in the UAE, besides other Heidelberg equipment, including MK Easymatrix 106CS die cutter and the MK Diana easy folder gluer.

The Speedmaster CX 104 opens up a whole new host of opportunities, made possible by intelligent assistance systems like Intellistart 3 and the new Intelliline, which revolutionize job changes with time-optimised automation and provide complete transparency.

Roger Nicodeme, General Manager at Heidelberg Gulf Est., says, “The versatile Speedmaster CX 104 can easily handle all materials, from lightweight paper up to carton stock for packaging. McLean Packaging installs second HEIDELBERG Speedmaster XL 106 in three years

McLean Packaging, a comprehensive provider of rigid set boxes, folding cartons, corrugated displays and thermoformed packaging solutions, recently installed a Speedmaster XL 106-10+LYYLfrom HEIDELBERG at its Moorestown, NJ folding carton manufacturing facility. The new XL 106, equipped with UV, Prinect Inpress Control 3, and FoilStar, is the second Speedmaster the company has installed in less than three years. “Better Than Any Machine We’ve Ever Had” …

… Additionally, with FoilStar, McLean can not only add inline special effects on press but will also improve productivity by eliminating some of its offline foiling processes. Fenkel says, “the efficiency and reliability of FoilStar on our current press is such that we’re moving more and more inline. We expect to do so more with our new machine as well.”
